United Way invites businesses and their employees to participate in the important decision-making process as panel members on the Citizen Review Panels.  Following are forms you can download and post in your place of business to make it easier for your employees to participate.

You can help decide how United Way donations will be distributed for the funding cycle of July 2010 through June 2011.  Each year, panels consisting of up to 15 local residents listen to the presentations of agencies requesting funding.  Panelists receive copies of the requests in advance.

Citizen Review Panels will meet with agencies throughout April.  Dates are to be determined.

As an active participant in this process, your eyes will be opened to the needs in our community as well as the services available. Recommendations by the Citizen Review Panels are the basis for Board of Directors' funding decisions.

If you are would like to serve on a Citizen Review Panel, please PRINT FORM and mail or drop off at our office, 115 3rd Ave West, Suite 4, Alexandria, MN  56308. You may also fax it to 763-4840.

 United Way Grants

Due to the economy, we have experienced a decrease in fundraising.  Therefore, we will not be funding any new programs or grants at this time.  Thank you for your interest in United Way.

United Way recognizes that we have a key role in assisting our member agencies and the community in times of emergency. United Way agencies provide vital services to people in need and most resources are allocated to existing services. It is necessary to provide an alternative for developing new and innovative programs, a method to meet new and emerging needs and the capability to assist the community in times of natural disasters.

United Way of Douglas & Pope Counties has a grant program to fund agencies with new or unexpected needs.  There are two categories of grants:

Special Grants

Provide one-time funding for innovative programs outside of the allocation process

Emergency Grants

Provide emergency funding for agency emergencies and local natural disasters.
