Community Impact
Community Impact…making lasting improvements in what matters most to our communities. United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties (UWDP) is evolving to include more then raising and distributing funds to make lasting improvements in people’s lives. We are striving to be catalyst for change, helping to organize and launch strategic community impact initiatives that gather a broad range of community resources to focus on our communities’ most important issues and improve lives in Douglas and Pope Counties.
UWDP believes that what really matters is making a difference in the lives of our families, friends, and neighbors. We mobilize people, information, resources, and ideas to address the most pressing community needs.
A strong quality of life means a community has the ability to go above and beyond providing the basic necessities for its residents. It is able to provide a variety of opportunities that strengthen its individuals and families. And in the long term presents the opportunity for more community members that are able to give back.
When you support UWDP, you help build a stronger, healthier community. As a leader in our communities, United Way is committed to addressing Douglas and Pope County’s most important social issues. We are devoted to solving community issues, by bringing together diverse groups of people and organizations to find solutions to community problems.
UWDP is evolving to a Community Impact agenda, focused on investing in impact, leading community change, and doing what matters most. You can be rest assured that we will continue to increase the capacity and sustainability of United Way and the human service sector. Your contributions are invested carefully in programs that work. We have a great responsibility to ensure your investment is utilized in the most effective way possible.
help identify our communities' most critical needs: UWDP works with volunteers, professionals, agencies and government to identify the critical needs in our region. These are issues that affect our friends, neighbors, co-workers, even ourselves, and impact the health of the community. Please complete the 2007 Community Needs Survey to help UWDP learn more about what matters to the people in Douglas & Pope Counties. The results of the survey will allow United Way of Douglas & Pope Counties to better address the needs of our citizens.
