Community Impact Coalition (CIC) was formed as a result of United Way's Community Impact Agenda.  Through this effort we gathered individuals from across the community to form the Community Impact Coalition (CIC) to address the most critical needs identified by the community.  The coalition is actively working to address complex social issues and implement solutions to help local residents.

 
 

  

  
 

Alexandria Area Stewards Drivers
Organize efforts around increasing volunteerism, decreasing poverty, and after-school programming.

Backpack Attack
Reduce child hunger in Pope County by providing nutritional, child-friendly food for children of low income families over the weekend.

Coat Collection & Distribution
Disperse new or slightly used jackets. The Annual distribution takes place over MEA.

Community Impact Coalition
Focus on investing in impact and in leading community change by addressing critical issues identified by the community.

Dolly Parton Imagination Library
Prepare children for school by providing a book a month to children under five years old in Douglas and Pope Counties, regardless of the family’s income.

Earned Income Tax Credit Info
Develop materials on the Earned Income Tax Credit and it’s value, as well as free tax clinics where one can go to claim the credit.

Essentials of Nonprofit Training
Education for Nonprofits developed as a resource to reduce cost and travel burdens to for area non-profits.

 FamilyWize Script Card
Distribute prescription cards to individuals who have no insurance or limited insurance to pay for their prescriptions. (Average Saving 20%)

  
 Free Tax Clinic
Assist low income individuals and families in preparing their tax forms to insure they receive available refunds.
 

Heat a Home
To help with some of the heating needs, households with extra firewood, donate it to the United Way. United Way disburses the firewood out to those most in need.

 Mobile Food Drop
Distribute a truck load of food monthly to help address the communities’ increasing hunger needs.

 ½ Pint for Everyone
There are some children that don’t get milk at school. By insuring children get a milk break, we increase nutrition and reduce negative effects of nutritional deprivation.
 
 Plant an Extra Row
Distribute locally grown, fresh, produce to partner agencies working with individuals in need.
Project Community Connect Provide a one-stop-shop, connecting individual and families with vital human services.
 
Rotary’s Hat & Mitten Distribution
Disperse free hats and mittens donated by the Alexandria Rotary Club.
 

Stuff the Bus
Provide students with required school supplies to assist them with their studies and to improve their ability to succeed academically in the classroom.

Target’s Christmas Tree Distribution
Arrange for the dispersal of Christmas trees donated by Target.

Toys for Tots Distribution
Assist in distributing toys donated to Toys-For-Tots to local children.

 Volunteer Resource Center
Connect community members with agencies in an effort to fill volunteer needs within Douglas and Pope Counties.
